When will they be putting the Asylum Seekers in SAVOY, CLARIDGES and the RITZ... People loosing their jobs. Gym memberships cancelled. Where in Wigan can you now hold a wedding Reception? Will the people who have had their wedding day ruined. Be able to sue the hotel for Breach of Contract? There aren't many venues in the area to hold a wedding reception..Especially at a weeks notice

In the early 2000's I checked out several places in and around Wigan, for southern based relatives, to host a diamond wedding, and recommended Kilhey Court. And it was a fabulous event for all.

I can only imagine that the property - as with many formerly prestige hotels - has fallen into an economic dead end.

Whats wrong with many of the redundant Army, Navy and RAF camps scattered around the country which were good enough for our service personnal to be accomodated in?

No wonder, they keep coming when we are advertising five star hotels with bed, breafast and evening meal provided free!

Just who the hell is this guy d.molyneux?? Speaking on behalf of the council and the people of Wigan ! I am dead sure if there was a poll of the population of the town about the housing of these layabouts ,bone idle young men he would certainly get an eye-opener !The people of Standish already have one full of the cretins at the Brittania Hotel at Almond brook, and form what iv'e heard the residents of Standish are not at all happy with the constant problems ,one of the main ones is the fact that they have had to have the police to Standish High School quite a few times as those lay-abouts go over the back fields towards the school which is full of young girls . IF you have to house them put them up with or near Lisa Nandy's place ,for starters then the other MP ,Fovargue see how they cope ...

Someone on Facebook has posted that his mother is in the Nursing Home next door to the Hotel and is paying £1200 a week He is contemplating moving her out and applying for Asylum for her. Perhaps it's time the population of Standish took a leaf out of the Oil Demonstrators Handbook As words just fall on 'Stoney Ground' I bet the people living on the Bleachworks estate are thrilled No chance in selling their houses now..

Asylum seekers are welcome to the place. Two quid for a pint of bitter in the mediocre nightclub in the 1980's was shocking. Was an expensive taxi to get there and back unless you have modern parents or thrived on soberness supping soda stream cola and driving your mates home after getting rinsed. It's a nice walk round the lakes at the back today like. You might bump into me there.

It was McDonald hotels who made the final decision to house them there, not the government, not the council

Obviously it seems, at least in this case that there is more money in accommodating asylum seekers than there is in their conventional business model. Which if its like the hospitality industry in general will be failing.

Any vitriol should be directed at the directors but it would appear they are merely fulfilling their obligations and acting in what they see as the best interests of the business.

And anyone who thinks those who end up being housed there will be living a life of luxury and experiencing a full on 3/4 star hotel experience needs their bumps feeling.

If these large hotels own by companies like McDonalds have financial problems, would it not be a good idea for them to be become hospitals, NHS or Private to deal with the backlog of appointments, consultations, operations etc which are incresing every day as a result of the ever increasing population due to immigration.

As for the statement by Molyneaux, it only a cosmetic exercise to make the voters of Wigan think that the Council are opposed to the hotel being used for housing immigrants when they know very well that it is unlikelythat the Government will stop it as they would have to stop all hotels doing the same and give them the chance to avoid closing down and making the employment situation worse.

And if what admin has said about the Nursing Home next door is correct, are we now going to see these establishments jumping on the bandwagon of making more profit, while at the same time making the housing situation for the elderly far worse.

Sorry, but it is time that our country got its priorities right where the future of our own people and immigrants is concerned!

The mounting costs of accommodating the boat people are giving the civil servants in the Treasury concern. Which departments will have to accept cuts to fund the migrants? The pension triple lock is in the crosshairs. It’s probably safe for next year but on the table thereafter.

But Todge...they are hotels, not hospitals. The primary function is to provide overnight accommodation. Not sure who you think is going to pay to convert them to and set them up as medical facilities...can you enlighten us please?

Didn't you read this?

Wigan Council has no say in what happens, but leaders have nonetheless written to the Home Office voicing their objections only to be told the programme will be pressing ahead regardless.

Wigan MP Lisa Nandy has also written to Home Secretary Suella Braverman calling on her to cancel the arrangement - calling it “completely unacceptable” – and urging her instead to liaise with Wigan Council about alternative arrangements.

With reference to the large body of water to the rear, the Worthington Reservoirs, does that mean that the economic migrants will be frightened of the water, because it will remind them of the channel ?

Maybe when they see it through the window, they will run away from Kilhey Court

Would you run away from a large hotel giving free bed, breakfast and evening meal provided at the tax payers expense?

As for any running away, surely there should be a security company to prevent it!

But then again, that would be also at the tax payers expense!

OC they are free to go about has they please there will be minimal security. Stick them in a tented village on a remote island somewhere up Scotland because the latest batch of boat people are just taking the pissSome person would then say it is a breach of their human rights. If they are fed and watered and clothed and given shelter then every thing is covered

Protest in Wigan, hope our Chorley friends can join us.
please see below????
PLEASE SHARE
PROTEST WALK AGAINST. HOUSING UNVETTED YOUNG MIGRANT MEN AT THE KILHEY COURT HOTEL
SUNDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER
MEET 12 NOON IN
FRONT OF ST WILFRIDs
CHURCH
WALK TO KILHEY COURT
The people of Standish were not asked if they wanted hundreds of unvetted young migrants housed in their community.
The staff at Kilhey Court were not consulted about losing their jobs.
The people with weddings booked weren't asked if they minded having their long planned weddings cancelled.
The people who used the Gym and facilities weren't asked if they minded losing their facility and social meeting place.
The elderly people living in the nearby care home weren't asked if they wanted a couple of hundred young men housed next door to them.
Those on the 14,000 plus housing waiting list weren't asked if they fancied a few months at Kilhey Court.
Those facing eviction were offered a Travelodge room for the whole family.
The people of Wigan weren't asked if they minded having this extra burden on our hospitals , health service, doctors waiting lists etc.
Women and girls weren't asked if they were concerned for their safety with hundreds of young men from cultures with different attitudes to women being moved into the area.
We weren't asked we weren't even told, but we are paying through our taxes. No money for bungalows for the elderly, homes for veterans, social housing for young families. But millions to house thousands of foreign young men in luxury hotels.
If you think this is wrong.
PLEASE turn up for the protest.
If you can't do the walk fine, just turn up for the start. Show you care.

The letter from the Labour controlled Wigan Council is only a cosmetic exercise because if it goes ahead, they can then blame the Tory Goverment for it happening.

Will be interesting to know how many Councillors from all parties, especially from the Standish Ward will turn up at the protest.

We can only hope that there is no trouble like there was at Kirkby to nullify the protest by making it out to be one of racism.
